Le Cran Cran
Le Cran Cran was a group that played tradition music from the Occitan region in the south of France. Between 1992 and 1993, Le Cran Cran published 2 albums, Move and Survive and Big in France.
The name is based on a French idiom, cesser le cran cran, meaning shut that racket up!
Not having the master tapes, I have taken cassette tapes and converted them to .mp3 files. The sound is a little muddy, which is what can be expected after 20 years on a tape.
The members of Le Cran Cran were:
- Andrew Bullen: melodeon, concertina, whistles, boca (French bagpipes)
- Allen Dodson: hurdy-gurdy, melodeon, Appalachian dulcimer, vocals
- Linda Garfield: percussion, whistles, vocals
- Bryan Griffith: percussion, sweet stick, dulcimer, vocals
- Jody Lepinot: violin, sweet stick, vocals
- Paul Woodman: guitar
- (Guest artist) Suzanne Costanza: flute, recorder, vocals
Please note, these are big files (4-11 Mb).
